Privacy Policy for MeshCore-TEAM

MeshCore-TEAM is designed to operate without reliance on centralized infrastructure. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you use it.

Overview

MeshCore-TEAM does not require user accounts and does not rely on cloud services operated by the developer. The app is designed to function using direct communication between your device and a compatible MeshCore radio.

MeshCore-TEAM is available on multiple platforms, including iOS and Android. While implementation details such as background operation, Bluetooth handling, and system permissions may differ between platforms, the way data is used and handled remains consistent across all versions of the app.

Data Collection

MeshCore-TEAM does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to any external servers operated by the developer.

All data used by the app is processed locally on your device or transmitted directly between devices as described below.

Peer-to-Peer Communication

MeshCore-TEAM enables communication over a decentralized mesh network using a paired MeshCore radio.

Messages, location data, and related information are transmitted directly between devices over the mesh network
This data is not routed through, stored on, or accessible by developer-operated servers
Data is only accessible to devices that are connected to the same mesh network and configured with the appropriate channel access (e.g., shared keys)

Location Data

MeshCore-TEAM may access location data from your device.

Location data is used solely to:

Display your position on the map
Share your location with other connected devices within the mesh network

Location data is:

Processed locally on your device
Shared only with devices connected to the same mesh network and configured with appropriate channel access (e.g., shared keys)
Not collected, stored, or transmitted to the developer

Communication over the mesh network is encrypted when supported by the connected MeshCore radio and configuration.

Bluetooth Usage

MeshCore-TEAM uses Bluetooth to communicate with a compatible MeshCore radio device.

Bluetooth is used solely for:

Establishing and maintaining a connection with the companion radio
Transferring data between your phone and the radio

No Bluetooth data is transmitted to external servers.

Offline Maps and Local Storage

The app may store the following data locally on your device:

Downloaded map tiles
Waypoints and routes
Team configuration files
Application settings

This data remains on your device unless you explicitly share it with other users.

Background Operation

MeshCore-TEAM may operate in the background to:

Maintain connectivity with the companion radio
Receive messages and updates
Support ongoing location sharing when enabled

Background operation is limited to functionality required for core app features.

MeshCore-TEAM does not share user data with:

The developer
Third-party services
Analytics or advertising platforms

Data may only be shared:

Directly between devices via the mesh network
When initiated or enabled by the user

Third-Party Services

MeshCore-TEAM does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Map data may be provided by third-party tile providers (e.g., OpenStreetMap or other map sources). Requests for map tiles are made directly from your device and are subject to those providers’ policies.

Data Security

MeshCore-TEAM is designed to support encrypted communication over the mesh network when used with compatible MeshCore radios and configurations.

However, users are responsible for:

Managing channel keys and configuration
Ensuring secure use of their devices

Children’s Privacy

MeshCore-TEAM does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be reflected by revising the effective date above.
